Two of our young people have been observing Ramadan over the last month, which came to a close this week as we entered the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
The beginning of Ramadan was marked in school with an assembly outlining the significance of this fasting period, and we marked its end with a celebration over lunch yesterday. Staff brought in treats and snacks for everyone, and all our young people engaged very positively in the celebration.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on different dates around the world depending on when the new moon is sighted. Eid is a one-day celebration in the UK, while in other parts the festival lasts for up to three days.
Muslims celebrate in many ways, one of which is the coming together of friends and family sharing gifts, food and thanks. As an Oracle family it was lovely for our young people to celebrate together and support their peers.
