April is 'Move More Month' within Oracle where the aim is to inspire everyone, staff and young people, to make healthy lifestyle choices and commit to being physically active. Spring is the perfect time to get out and about and use the natural environment around us to improve our well-being.
The NHS recommends 30 minutes exercise per day for adults and 60 minutes per day for children in order to get the health benefits from exercise. As the Activity Alliance suggest, an active lifestyle is not only good for your health but also increases independence, reduces stress, boosts self esteem and enhances your co-ordination.
Many of our young people already have active lifestyles and take part in weekly gymnastics, swimming, football and trampolining together with school based outdoor education, forest school and PE activities.
