Careers Afternoon

Key Stage 4 pupils at our Cheshire school we lucky enough to have a careers afternoon today.

Pupils welcomed staff from both educational, training and volunteer sectors in an informal environment to chat about their options and next steps.

Pupils sat with staff to discuss different paths young people can take to improve their chances of positive educational and training experiences, as well as developing confidence and employability.

The local Barnardos charity shop manager was on hand to explain how volunteer work not only helped those in need but also improved their own interpersoanl skills and confidence -an option that some of our youngesters had not thought about. While Stoke-on-Trent College were full of information about vocational courses which linked nicely to the post 14 courses they will be starting in September.

Links like these, and others, are playing a big role in supporting our young people as they develop their aspirations beyond year 11 and into adulthood. Small steps but big plans!
