Chris Wins Two Awards

Nov 06, 2017

Last week Chris attended his LAC Awards Evening in Bedford. The theme was 'prom' so he and the staff team got glammed up ready for a great night.

Chris bought himself a new blue suit, and looked very smart and handsome. The other young people from Nightingale House joined in and got suited and booted too!

Chris invited Home Manager Kat McGowan and CEO Steve Bromley to be his guests, and they were honoured to attend.

The night was a wonderful success, and Chris loved mingling with his friends. They enjoyed a 3 course meal and a fantastic disco.

Chris was presented with two awards; one for developing independence and life skills and the second for his volunteer work over the past year.

Everyone at Nightingale House, and the wider Oracle community, are very proud of Chris for his achievements - he has worked extremely hard over the last year.

Manager Kat said 'The best part of the evening was watching Chris with the biggest smile on his face! I was so proud of him and how he presented himself. He has has come such a long way since he came to Oracle two years ago!'

Here's a photo of the three Nightingale boys with CEO Steve Bromley.

Oracle's New Children's Home

Nov 03, 2017

Oracle Care and Education are pleased to announce the planned opening of a new children's home.

Located in rural Bedfordshire, Wren Cottage will open in January 2018, offering 3 placements for young people aged 8-18 with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

In keeping with the names of our other Bedfordshire homes, we held a competition to find the perfect bird name. Staff were asked to make suggestions, and then our young people voted for their favourite. The winner was Wren Cottage!

Watch this space for further details of our latest children's home.

Halloween at Oracle

Nov 02, 2017

We've had a very spooky time at Oracle around Halloween this year.

Our school pupils enjoyed pumpkin carving, and all dressed up in very impressive costumes. And the girls at Brunswick House were treated to a surprise party arranged by staff, complete with cobweb decorations, Beetle Juice and Zombie Tonic (don't worry, it was only cola and lemonade!) Each girl received a surprise invitation asking them to complete their homework then dress up ready for spooky treats and games - what a great night!

Here are some photos.

They went up the Blackpool tower in the evening and saw the Blackpool illuminations which were spectacular. They did lots of other activities such as going to the circus,Blackpool dungeons, Madame Tussauds, Sea Life Centre and of course eating the famous Harry Ramsdens fish and chips!

Marco had a busy week too as he got dressed up very smart to attend the LAC awards evening. He had a great time! Marco also went to Butlins in Skegness for the day with his key worker and spent the day doing lots of activities such as swimming, darts and snooker. He also attended a Halloween party and wore a very scary mask.
