My Journey with Oracle - By Del

Oct 11, 2017

Hi my name is Del and my journey so far has been amazing. All the staff and young people are really kind and when I moved to this house I was very scared but I'm not scared anymore. The Manager and everyone else have made me feel really welcome. Epworth House is the best house ever that I have been in and thanks for making me feel welcome and thanks for everything you all have done from me.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Sep 29, 2017

Pupils and staff at both Oracle Schools held fantastic events to raise money for Macmillan last week.

The Bedford School hosted a bake-off for their Macmillan Coffee Morning so our students and staff could show off their baking skills. Many of our students produced freshly baked products in their Food Preparation and Nutrition lessons. One of the students decided to take the lead on promoting the event, which started with a presentation in the school’s general assembly. It was interesting to listen to the discussions amongst pupils afterwards as it was clear his presentation brought about a greater awareness of cancer and the work of the charity in ensuring that no-one faces cancer alone. We are pleased that as a small school family we raised £60 for Macmillan!

The Congleton School held a great Coffee Morning as well, with our young people baking gorgeous cakes the night before and bringing them in. We raised £57 for Macmillan!

Well done to "Outstanding" Brunswick House!

Sep 01, 2017

We would like to congratulate our home manager and staff team at Brunswick House, who have been graded "Outstanding" in all areas by Ofsted!

A couple of extracts from the Ofsted report below:

"The home makes an exceptional difference to the lives and experiences of children who live there. Staff make every effort to enhance children’s life chances by placing them at the centre of their practice and promoting everyday experiences in line with children’s peers who are not looked after."

"Children are very clearly at the centre of practice. Their voices and views are seen throughout records, planning and within the physical environment. Children’s identity in the home is strong, and there is a very strong sense from them that they feel loved, listened to and cared for."

Wonderful feedback from Virtual School Headteacher

Aug 18, 2017

Our Home Manager and team at Brunswick House were delighted to receive the below feedback from a Virtual School Headteacher:

"I was very impressed by the way Oracle Care analysed our child’s needs to determine their offer of a place and my experience of staff at the home (relating to education) has been really excellent. Staff have shown considerable understanding and expertise in addressing the needs of a little girl who was previously really struggling in her care setting – which was then affecting her school placement. Staff have been professional, caring and proactive in communicating with me and this has enabled us to transfer our LAC back into mainstream education more quickly than would otherwise have been the case. I have been impressed by the way they have arranged a very wide range of activities to engage her and have also tried to (and succeeded in) responding to her own individual interests. The support to help her engage with Brownies was an excellent step in enabling her to move back into mainstream education. Having worked with this child whilst she was with her previous carer and school, I can really see the massive progress she has made. Staff at the home have also been very understanding when that progress has stalled or made small regressions. They have been analytical and have (in my view), correctly interpreted her emotional needs in order to get her back on track.

I have really valued their positive and practical approach that seeks to focus on our child’s future potential.

In my view, this is one of the best residential homes I have worked with – if not the best."

We thank them for their kind words and the team promise to keep up the excellent work!
